PTC has developed a patented range of Surface Annulus Safety (SAS) check valves (with or without hydraulic actuators) and pressure / temperature sensor plugs, which are designed to be installed inside VR profile on the Wellhead.
In addition to the very high performance specifications the SAS valves and sensor plugs offer, the key differentiators are:
- The valves are located within the body of the wellhead and are therefore not susceptible to damage from fires or falling objects within the wellbay.
The Valves and Sensor plugs can be used in a number of applications:
- To eliminate the risk of HP gas release from the annulus of gas lifted wells.
- As an an alternative to DH ASV’s in gas lifted wells.
- To facilitate ASV and gas lift valve inflow testing without the need for a temporary rig up.
- To facilitate reliable annulus pressure management especially on NNMI( not normally manned installation).
- Secondary well containment envelope assurance at wellhead chemical injection penetrations.
